Florida Health Insurance GuideYour Florida health insurance plan will, in all probability, be used at one time or another. Having an adequate Florida health insurance plan can make a tremendous difference in the care you receive. Finding an affordable Florida health insurance is not easy. The biggest obstacle is finding a good agent. Many agents somehow "forget" to mention plan limitations that could make the plan utterly useless. This Florida Health Insurance Guide will help you eliminate a lot of unplesant surprises. Remember, you can call us directly for answers and quotes at 800-986-4786
Florida Health Insurance is Expensive - Readjusting Your Expectations In the past most of you have either had group health insurance plans or no coverage at all. Florida health insurance is very expensive, you need to readjust your expectations of low deductibles and having everything covered with just a small co-pay. If you have just won the lottery or have significant wealth you can purchase plans that will do just that, and at the same time you can adopt me. However, for the rest of us, we need to reset our priorities and watch our budgets when shopping for a Florida health insurance plan. Setting Your Priorities You buy a Florida
health insurance plan to pay for the "big stuff". Yes, I
know, you want the doctor's visits covered and all your prescriptions.
Priority number one is to cover major
illnesses and accidents. It is the hospital bills and prolonged illnesses
that destroy us financially. Focus on covering the catastrophic bills.
Ask the agent: 2. Are there per
illness limitations? Do not accept any. Obviously, the least inexpensive
Florida health insurance plans have higher deductibles and pay nothing
for the occassional doctor visit or prescription. These are the basic
major medical plans. For most of us it is all we need. I did not say
all we want. I said all we need. These plans provide more than adequate
coverage and generally have lower rate increases than more comprehensive
plans or plans with low deductibles. The smart consumer knows that you can pay for your own prescriptions and doctor visits for less money than it costs to insure these items. Look very carefully at the cost of adding these extra benefits. If it costs you $1,000 year more in health insurance so you can go to the doctor twice for only $35 and fill your prescription for $20 instead of $80, was it worth it? How much did you save? Did you spend $1,000 to save $200? Don't try to beat the insurance company at their own game. Over time you will come out ahead by taking on some of the costs of your own health care.
Florida Health Insurance (NOT) - Discount Cards - PPO Network Cards Discount cards and local network plans are not Florida health insurance plans. Stop and think for a minute. Do you really think that you can dispense with health insurance and make due with a cheap discount card? If you do I have a bridge in Brooklyn for you. You will still be hit with the bills and the doctors and hospitals will be asking for payment in advance. Many physicians will not even see a patient without actual insurance. Access to a PPO network can help. Just make sure that you don't pay $500 or more for a card that saves you $100 over the course of the year. We offer one PPO
network plan for those who need it. The card is $37.50 a month and
the card company pays the doctor. This means you will find acceptance
with this card that you will not find with others. 1. Find an good agent - you do not want to deal with anyone who represents just one company. The plans that require the agent to be captive (represent only their plan) are not generally the best plans available. Make sure they can offer you a variety of Florida health insurance plans. There is no substitute for common sense. When an agent plants themselves in your living room, shows you a slick brochure, tells you that you can have the plan even after you are 65. The alarm bells should be going off in your head. These smooth talkers are trained to leave with your signature and a check and represent only one carrier - which is naturally the best. But watch out when you tell them you want time to think about it. They can get very testy. 2. Be realistic. If you try to replicate a plan you had when working for BigBucks Industries you are going to be very disappointed. Florida health insurance is expensive and you don't want to over-insure. It was real nice to have $5 copays and $100 deductibles. Those days are gone forever and you need to move on. 3. Don't lie.
If you leave important information off of your application they will
catch you. In Florida it is a class 3 felony. If an agent suggests
it, you should throw them out or hang up. A Helpful Tip On Florida Health Insurance Paramedical Exams Some companies will require a paramed exam where blood will be drawn. These are supposed to be fasting tests. However, they often fail to warn you. Or, the examiner is late and you decide to have a meal or a snack. The blood tests come back with elevated cholesterol or blood sugar and you are faced with a medical decline. If the examiner is late and you had a meal or forgot and ate prior to the test, cancel the exam. You can have months and months of aggrevation trying to prove you have normal readings.
